A 2½-day program designed for roadway lighting designers, engineering consultants and specifiers. This program is registered for 9 Learning Units (HSW) with AIA, 9 PDHs with NCEES, and qualifies for 9 NCQLP Lighting Education Units. |

A multi-level exploration of roadway lighting fundamentals, concepts and design intended for DOT engineers, consultants and others involved with specifying roadway, tunnel and high-mast lighting. Each attendee will receive a copy of IES’s RP-8-00, Roadway Lighting, and RP-22-05, Tunnel Lighting. |

Dr. Ronald Gibbons is an expert in lighting and visibility issues and serves as the Lighting and Infrastructure Group Leader within the Center for Vehicle and Infrastructure Safety at the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI). He is currently the principle investigator on multiple projects including studies on the impact of lighting design on crosswalk visibility and the wet night visibility of pavement markings. Dr. Gibbons is the author of several published papers on roadway lighting, photometry and target visibility. Dr. Gibbons will be describing the on-going research at VTTI’s “smart road” project. |
