Miami Valley Career Technology Center is a state of the art Vocational School always striving to be on the cutting edge regarding new technology.  Eight years ago the school started a program replacing their current T12 fluorescent fixtures in every lab on campus with a dimming HID luminaire and electronic ballast from a Holophane competitor (See Part 1 of this story here).

The school experienced problems from the start with the competitor's system,  it never worked correctly from day one.  When Sales Representative Ed Hawley moved into the Dayton territory, Holophane had recently introduced the Prismatron dimming HID ballast.  He was traveling with RSVP Rick Clark early after moving into the territory and they made a call on Tom Zimmerman of Helmig Lienesch and Associates, a local engineering firm in Dayton, and began telling him about the new Holophane Prismatron Ballast... and what it could do for his customers. 

Tom said he had the perfect application.  They made a follow up appointment with Helmig Lienesch and representatives from the school to come back in and show a demo of the dimming system.  They listened and saw what "Hbox" had to offer them, and Holophane was given the chance to light the school's welding lab.  After the school had their new fixtures installed for a month they knew they had made the right decision in going with Holophane. 

Ed started working with Tom of Helmig Lienesch on the Cafetorium project that he had originally considered the perfect application for this product.  Holophane received the order for the Cafetorium that also incorporates a state of the art control package that Holophane supplied along with the fixtures. 

As for the rest of the labs on campus, when the complete retrofit of every lab is done, Holophane will have provided over 800 Prismatron PrismGlo's. The end customer has been extremely pleased with the performance of the new lighting installation and has repeatedly remarked on how good it is to have a lighting system that "performs the way it is supposed to!"
